ADIDAS

Impossible is Nothing.

HISTORY

Adidas was created in 1924 in Bavaria, Germany. Created by Adolf “Adi” Dassler (above) and his brother Rudolf “Rudi” Dassler, it initially began as a track shoe company called “Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik” (“Brothers Dassler Shoe Factory”). The company later became “Adi Dassler adidas Sportschuhfabrik” in 1949 when Rudi left the company. The name “adidas” came from the combination of Adolf Dassler’s nickname “Adi” and the first three letters of his last name. Over decades, through their involvement and popularity in sports such as track, soccer, basketball, skateboarding, and many more, adidas has become one of the world’s premier athletic companies.

LOGO

Adidas’s original logo created in 1949 featured elongation on the letter “d” in adidas as well as one of the first models of adidas track shoe, which is the sport in which adidas first began. The classic “trefoil” adidas logo was created in 1971, becoming a part of some of adidas’s most iconic products. “Three-stripe” logos were later revealed, the most recent logo being created in 2005.

NET WORTH

As of 2018, adidas’s net worth is around $14.3 billion, raking in millions of sales in shoes, sportswear, and accessories.
